Nanna Treu was born in 1993 in Copenhagen and started playing the violin at the age of six. In 2013, Ms. Treu was accepted at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen studying under Kgl. Kapelmusikus Michael Malmgreen and continued her studies with the world-renowned violin professor Milan Vitek at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, OH, US. She has collected prizes from various competitions such as the Berlingske’s Classical Music Competition and The Jacob Gade Violin Competition and was awarded Storkøbenhavnske Odd Fellow Loger’s Music Award 2019 and received the Hertz’ Foundations scholarship 2020.

Ms. Treu has been a part of Hotel Pro Forma’s theater production Theremin and toured throughout Denmark, Europe, and Singapore, and has been a member of the Danish National Youth Ensemble 2011-2017. Ms. Treu has participated in solo and chamber music masterclasses working with world-renowned artists like Joseph Swensen, Per Enoksson, Trio con Brio Copenhagen and Trio Wanderer and has performed in different chamber music constellations throughout Denmark, Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Ms. Treu is the recipient of several substantial grants from foundations like The Augustinus Foundation, Bræmer’s Foundation, Toyota Foundation, and the Swiss Idella Foundation.

As a freelance violinist, Ms. Treu is currently performing with orchestras such as Copenhagen Phil, Odense Symphony Orchestra, and Aalborg Symfony Orchestra.

Ms. Treu is the co-creator of the concert series MUSIK PÅ TRAPPEN (MUSIC ON STAIRS) and a part of the prize-winning experimental opera collective Venteværelset.
